Festivals! Aww! Everybody loves it! Why so? Holiday, Sweets, Family, Friends, New Movies etc., etc., The list keeps growing..
And what about the Celebrations! - Do we really have one?
I loved a tweet of someone regarding diwali,
"Ticket புக் பண்ணும்போது இருந்த ஆர்வம் தீபாவளி அன்று இல்லை!"
We eat karumbu for pongal, kozhukatai for vinayagar chathurthi, sundal for saraswati pooja, briyani for ramzan..blah blah blah...Our next generation will actually differentiate the festival only by what they eat for that particular festival.
Appas are busy in buying, ammas are busy in cooking and kids are busy in eating. Who cared about the reasons behind these festivals.
And at last the celebration ends here, "சிறப்பு நிகழ்ச்சிகளை பாருங்கள், X ஐ கொண்டாடுங்கள்"
Go tell your kids what for a festival is, why do we celebrate it...
Culture doesn't lies only in a female's outfit. The beauty of the language, culture, tradition etc., has to travel along with us for leading life in a beautiful way :) Take it to the next generation! Or else one day you will be showing pongal paanai to your grandchildren in a museum(already it has been kept there :P ).
