Corporal punishment law - Will it work out??

"Spare the rod and spoil the child" Indian government feels so. Ya government is planning to impose a law which declares corporal punishment to a child as an offense not only for educational institutions but for parents also.
Already countries like US are having this kind of law. The children can take parents to court for such offenses. But I feel its practically impossible for a country like India to have such kind of law. Here the relationships between parents and children is somewhat too sentimental. What do you people think ?? Will it work out??

  1. whether this law works out or not is secondary...
but the fundamental justice behind this act is that beating a child is the worst kind of sin in this world...
cuz, the only reason that we punish a child is that he/she cant resist us and its a kinda situation like u punish a mentally retarded person...
there are lot of ways to make a child realise his/her mistakes where most of those things are committed unknowingly...
but its hard to sow this idea into our parents mind...
and i dont understand the line "our parents are too sentimental"..
do u think that beating a child is an act of sentiment?!
understanding the law itself will strengthen the bond between the parents and the child...
but the next generation(i mean we) can follow it na?
